TOP NYC & LONG ISLAND BUSINESS LEADERS JOIN JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT BOARD TO PREPARE YOUNG PEOPLE TO SUCCEED IN A GLOBAL ECONOMY

New York, NY. - Junior Achievement of New York, Inc. (JANY) is pleased to announce the addition of eight new members to the Junior Achievement of New York Board of Directors who were nominated and ratified at the October 31, 2008 Annual Board meeting. The meeting marked JANY's largest single Board Member induction in the history of the organization. "We're excited about the new additions to the JANY Board" said JANY President Doug Schallau. "Their diverse business expertise, life experiences and passion for education will contribute fresh direction and guidance to the organization, especially during today's challenging economic times."

JANY Board members are selected based on their commitment to create opportunities and pathways of success for New York City and Long Island students. Through a network of dedicated business and community volunteers and teachers, JANY curricula centers on financial literacy, entrepreneurism and workforce readiness. The organization is committed to reaching minority and low income students in New York City and Long Island to ensure all young people have a fundamental understanding of financial literacy and are prepared for future financial issues they may face.

New Board Members include: Willie Dennis, Partner at KL Gates, Diane D'Erasamo, EVP and Regional President, Commercial Lending, HSBC Bank, USA, NA, Tom DeVito, VP & General Manager - NYC & NJ AT&T Mobility, Walker Jacobs, SVP, Turner Sports & Entertainment, Merrill Kraines, Partner, Fulbright & Jaworski, Sandy Montag, Senior Corporate Vice President, IMG Sports & Entertainment, Frederic "Rick" Nelson, Vice Chairman & Chief Investment Officer, ING Investment Management and Peter Pamel, CEO, The Fillit Group. The New Board members join an impressive board roster of top business leaders and senior executives from New York's most respected companies - all dedicated to JANY's mission to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.
