EVALUATIONS AND CORRELATIONS
EVALUATIONS
In studies of Junior Achievement's K— 12 programs by external evaluators, JA students demonstrate a significant
understanding of economics and business and an enhanced desire to stay in school and pursue careers in business—
particularly those exposed to programs throughout consecutive grade levels.
From 1993— 2003, external evaluators have conducted comprehensive evaluations and correlations of Junior
Achievement's Elementary School Program to local and national educational standards. Results show that JA's impact
on student knowledge, attitudes, and achievement has been consistently positive and significant.
- The Programs Make a Difference
- Students participating in elementary school programs have a greater comprehension of economics and business than
their non-participating peers.
- JA Students Outperform Their Peers
- JA students scored significantly higher on objective-referenced tests than their non-participating peers. They are also
more likely to attend college, select a business-related major, and take more personal responsibility for their behavior.
JA students also have a more positive self-image and higher self-esteem.
- JA Inspires Students to Succeed
- According to a longitudinal study completed by independent evaluators in 2003, JA Students had better attitudes and
greater career aspirations than non-participating.
- JA Teaches Important Life Skills
- Students who participated in JA Titan demonstrated better problem-solving skills when making critical business
decisions than their non-participating peers.
- Teachers Love JA!
- When asked about JA programs, teachers have high praise of them. They also say that 99% of their students enjoy it.
Teachers also credit volunteers as a major factor in the impact of the curriculum. They say the volunteers bring an
outside business perspective into the classroom and serve as positive role models for students.
