If you love your job, why not share it with a kid? JANY kicks off its 2008 JA Job Shadow Program with JANY "I Love My Job!" Job Shadow Week, February 25 - February 29, 2008.
The JA Job Shadow program is an exciting celebration that draws hundreds of the students, volunteers, and companies who support JANY. It is part of a national awareness kick-off event that highlights the value of having business professionals host students to shadow them during the day. This way, students learn what it takes to be successful in the work environment. Nationally, more than 1 million students participate in the event each year.
The JANY Job Shadow Program provides students with an up-close look at the working world and shows them how the skills they learn in school are put to use in the workplace. Students begin to understand the day-to-day activities of prominent business and senior level leaders and the various staff positions that support them, by spending a day in the workplace observing and asking questions.
YOU can help make education relevant to NYC and Long Island students by using you career and life experiences to motivate them to succeed. Job Shadow students learn about career choices and valuable life lessons when they meet and interact with real working people in a variety of professional and career roles.
If you are unable to accommodate a student during JANY's Job Shadow Week, don't despair; Job Shadow is a year-round program and we need your year round participation to make it successful.
If you and/or your company are interested in hosting/mentoring Job Shadow program students please recruit employees at your company to participate as hosts for students during your company Job Shadow; and
