Jany Youth Leadership Conferences launched in spring 2005 with the JANY Young Women's Leadership Conference (YWLC). Since that time, JANY's Youth conferences have grown to include other target student segment groups (young men; Hispanics) who are in need of positive role models and leadership opportunities as part of their professional and workforce readiness development. These conferences are designed to engage young people from New York City and Long Island high schools in a discussion of the challenges and opportunities they will encounter in the workplace.
Business leaders from JANY partner companies participate as presenters and mentors to the students. The conferences also aim to encourage young people to begin setting personal and financial goals for their futures. Through participation in breakout sessions and interactions with speakers and mentors, students learn about the skills they will need to make their futures successful.
