The Leadership Awards Gala is held in the fall and recognizes individuals representing a wide range of people who are vital to JANY's success. Each of the honorees displays exemplary leadership skills and reflects JANY's values of integrity, respect and excellence. These honorees are ordinary individuals making extraordinary contributions toward JANY's mission to inspire young people to be successful.
JANY's 6th Annual Leadership Awards Gala took place at the World Financial Center Winter Garden, Thursday, November 29, 2007. Over 500 guests were present at this wonderful celebratory event. The theme of the evening was Connecting Communities, Transforming Lives. Chris Cimino, meteorologist for the WNBC's number-one-rated "Today in New York morning news show was the emcee. He was joined by co-emcee, Kali Begum, a JANY Student Ambassador and John Dewey High School Senior.
Entertainment was provided by doo-wop sensation, Kid Kyle & the Kool Kats. Through the generosity of our supporters, JANY raised $640,000 to inspire NYC and Long Island students to succeed in a global economy.
